FILE 01 The Legend

Eureka Springs' 1886 Crescent Hotel — 'the Grand Old Lady of the Ozarks' — was a tubercular hospital (1908) and, infamously, Norman Baker's 1937–39 'cancer curable' fraud hospital: Baker, a quack radio evangelist, sold worthless treatments to dying patients until federal prosecution shut him. The hotel's morgue is a tour stop; its ghost file (Baker's victims, a 19th-century stonemason who fell to his death during construction, 'theodora' the nurse) is run by the hotel as its signature.

FILE 02 The Sightings Log

Room 419's cancer patient, Room 218's stonemason Michael (knocking, his death-year's anniversary activity), Room 424's 'Theodora' folding clothes, and the morgue's 'Baker' presence — the hotel's nightly ghost tour packages the full file. Guests report gurney sounds in the halls and the basement's oppressive cold.

FILE 03 The Skeptic’s File

Norman Baker's fraud is documented federal-court history — one of America's worst medical scams, run inside the hotel. His victims' ghosts are the hotel's honest-atmosphere asset. The stonemason's death is documented. The tour exaggerates nothing that needs exaggerating: a morgue in a luxury hotel is a real thing there. The Crescent's 'A' rests on the darkest documented layer of any resort hotel in America.
