FILE 01 The Legend

On the edge of Cluj-Napoca in Transylvania, Hoia-Baciu's trees grow bent and twisted on oddly-geometrical soil. Local reputation: people who enter report lost time, nausea and panic; shepherds historically avoided it. In 1968 a military technician photographed a disc-shaped object over the clearing known as the Round Forest Clearing — one of the most published UFO photos of the era. The forest became a global paranormal brand.

FILE 02 The Sightings Log

Visitors report failing phone batteries and GPS drift on the plateau, intense anxiety near the clearing, and faces that appear in photographs taken among the trees. The absence of birdsong is widely claimed. TV series including 'Destination Truth' and 'Ghost Adventures' have filmed here, all leaving with unexplained audio.

FILE 03 The Skeptic’s File

The crooked growth has a botanical candidate — soil compaction and grazing stress on the plateau — and the UFO photo has been analyzed as potentially a thrown object in motion. 'Lost time' reports come from frightened people navigating an unfamiliar, disorienting woods. Yet the forest's actual anomaly is real: the vegetation genuinely is distorted, and science has not fully settled why.
