FILE 01 The Legend

Flagstaff's 1927 railroad hotel hosts a file of named ghosts staff treat as regulars: a 1970s meat-hook horror fan in Room 210 who rearranges belongings, a phantom bellboy, 'the Phantom Barber' who cuts hair in the night, and the bank-robber era's leftovers in the Monte Vista Cocktail Lounge. The hotel sits on Route 66's main drag, and its ghost dossier is one of the Southwest's richest.

FILE 02 The Sightings Log

Room 210's 'meat-hook man' — the most-requested room — produces coat-hanger scratching sounds and moved furniture. The barber: guests woken by snipping sounds and finding hair on pillows. A crying baby with no source, coins falling in empty rooms, and the lounge's 'floating cowboy' round out the file.

FILE 03 The Skeptic’s File

Every element is hotel folklore polished across decades of staff turnover — the kind of living oral tradition that makes a 1927 hotel feel authentic. No deaths are documented matching the meat-hook or barber stories; the hotel's own materials frame them as legend. Route 66's revival economy needs ghosts, and Flagstaff supplies them honestly. A 'B' file: rich, warm, unverifiable.
