Sallie House
Atchison's modest house with a violent reputation: attacks targeting male visitors and knives found sealed in the walls.
Case File No. 028
FILE 01 The Legend
Atchison, Kansas's 'Sallie House' — a small 1800s rental named for a little girl said to have died during a doctor's surgery in the house — became famous in the 1990s when tenants Tony and Debra Pickman reported escalating attacks: scratches on Tony's body, fires, and objects moving, attracting TV investigations ('Sightings', 'A Haunting' series). The house is a small managed tourist site today, with overnight visits bookable.
FILE 02 The Sightings Log
The Pickmans' documented-era reports (photographed scratches, TV footage) anchor the file: attacks concentrated on Tony, fires igniting in the walls, and the presence of both 'Sallie' (a child) and a darker male entity the investigations associated with the house's land history. Overnight guests continue to report scratches and child-like contact.
FILE 03 The Skeptic’s File
The Pickman-era phenomena were never independently verified — no controlled investigation caught the scratches in progress, and the TV shows profited from the story. The 'doctor's surgery death' has no documentary basis. But the Sallie House is a rare case with a named family's sustained first-person record and physical-claim artifacts (photos of scratches), which is why it stays at 'B' — the best-attested of the thin files.
